Key Terms
Merchant
That’s you — your business that accepts card or bank payments from clients.
Merchant Account
A special type of account Nuvei sets up for your business. It’s not a regular bank account — it’s used to accept and hold payments before they’re transferred to your actual business bank account.
Payment Gateway
The secure technology that connects Sous to Nuvei. It captures your client’s payment details and sends them safely for approval.
Payment Processor
Nuvei also acts as the processor, handling the movement of money from your client’s bank to your business account.
What Nuvei Does
Nuvei handles the entire process of moving money from your client’s card or bank to your business account.
Here’s how it works:
Secure Capture – Your client enters card details into SOUS checkout, and Nuvei securely encrypts this data.
Approval – The transaction is sent to the client’s bank for approval. If approved, the money is released.
Processing & Fees – Nuvei deducts processing fees and then sends the remaining funds to your business bank account.
Timing:
Card payments → usually within 24 hours (excluding weekends & holidays)
ACH payments → 3–5 business days
Payment Flow in SOUS
You send an invoice → Client clicks “Pay” in the email and enters card info.
Bank approval → Visa, Mastercard, or the client’s bank approves or declines.
Confirmation → You and the client get notified.
Funds deposited → Nuvei processes the payment, deducts fees, and deposits the money into your account.
